  1. A legend need not to be in a small box tucked into the corner of the chart. Direct labeling allows a reader to identify the lines quickly and focus on comparing and contrasting the patterns.

TIP: read the book 'The Wall Street Journal - Guide to Information Graphics' by Dona M. Wong. Has an interesting point on 3D charts!

  2. We can place html formatted on the chart. But on export the ability is lost. In this example I have tried to use the subtitle for export, but HTML is lost there to and so it goes from a nice formatted paragraph with list items to a one line text on export.

  4. Feature to save Image/PDF on Server Side (like the feature to save it on client side). This would ease in building email functionality. If highcharts can save the generated pdf on a server by means of a button click, we can write an email client to pick that up and send as an attachment. Using phantom and options.js on server side isn't optimal sometimes.

  5. Please give me some ideas. How to build a chart like this?

    Is there any sample?

  8. Check out the legend on they NYFed site

    https://www.newyorkfed.org/data-and-statistics/data-visualization/community-credit-profiles#inclusion

The dataClasses are joined together and the arrow pointer points to where in the data class a specific point lives.

I have implemented similar code but it would be nice if it was an option by default.

  9. Hi,

Providing full flexibility to edit plot area size to render the chart with the desired space. Have attached the Video in the below thread

To edit plot area size you could use margin and spacing options of a chart.
    API reference:
    https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/chart.margin
    https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/chart.spacing

There is no GUI for those changes or drag and drop on the plot area.

The closest thing is Axis resizer: https://www.highcharts.com/docs/advanced-chart-features/axis-resizer
Demo for vertical resizing (using API options): https://jsfiddle.net/BlackLabel/q1z4voxb/10/

  10. For Highmaps, we should have a method to find which map area a point lays within. Useful for building heatmaps.

  12. Reading a pie chart is like reading a clock. It's most effective to place the largest segment at 12 o'clock (as it does now). The best way to order the rest of the segments is to place the second biggest slice at 12 o'clock on the left; the rest would follow counterclockwise.

  13. Plotlines are excellent to point out interesting Things in the chart. With large datasets it can be a good thing to be able to have an additional label for the exact value of that plotline

  14. When a border is added to bar/column charts, the border goes X pixels around the bar. This causes the bar to overlap over the axis lines and possibly other bars. See this JSFiddle example:
    http://jsfiddle.net/aaewong/6kmu11md/5/

It would be nice if it could look more like this instead:
    http://jsfiddle.net/izothep/0ubmw73z/7/

  15. I have tested your drill down map in yur USA example.
But I tried to replace all "us/us" to "ph/ph" in order to use it in my beloved country, but it looks like I cannot drill it even at least to provincial level.

I wish you will provide data for that

  16. Hi,

    I've few concern about legends.

For legend size, you have 2 property,

    1) width

We can set width as pixel (or) percentage.

    2) maxHeight

We can set maxHeight of legend as pixel.

    Now, check the example below,

    https://jsfiddle.net/nubr17ty/1

Setting width as percentage (30%) helps the chart to have enough space for plot area.

But look at the example below,

    https://jsfiddle.net/nubr17ty/2

Here unnecessarily legends are occupying 30% of space as the legend name is very small.

    1) Do you have any property to set maxWidth (as you have maxHeight) ?

If we set the maxWidth, we can solve the above

  18. I am currently in the middle of a project where I need to format Y values differently per series and the X values need to be converted from timestamps to week numbers.

Right now I'm hacking together a solution based upon feedback in this GitHub issue: https://github.com/highcharts/highcharts/issues/11891

It is not intuitive nor simple. I will work on a PR when time allows.

  19. When specifying a data point as a milestone, the symbol used is a diamond, which is the correct standard symbol. but there should a way to change the symbol to a different value, like another symbol or some icon of some sort.

While there are example like http://jsfiddle.net/abk21rdy/ that show how to change a marker for a point, this approach doesn't even work for milestone as it seems to be set at a lower level based on the type.

  20. Have a simple 3 bar graph. The containing DIV has no height defined Graph ends up rather tall with THICK bars. Ugly. If I try to control the bars by setting the plotOptions.groupPadding to .1 and pointPadding to 0 and the series I set pointWidth to 20, end up with lots of white space but graph is STILL taller than it needs to be.
