    You can show tooltip on hover and by clicking a point. I found a jsfiddle on stack overflow that shows you how: http://jsfiddle.net/larsenmtl/SeCAB/1/

    We will look into this and see if we can make it happen.
    As of now, there's a feature for allowing overlap for you to play with: http://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/plotOptions.area.dataLabels.allowOverlap
