3D charts
Add new 3D style pie and bar charts, like http://www.jfree.org/jfreechart/images/PieChart3DDemo1.png
Finished as of Highcharts 4: http://www.highcharts.com/docs/chart-concepts/3d-charts/

A 3D pie may be a fluff or it may be doing injustice to the data as some of the posters have mentioned. But some 3D graphs can be really useful.

High charts is a serious charting tool and I use it extensively for sophisticated data visualization. Please don't devalue by wasting time implementing 3D.

Jorge: "In KPI dashboards, gauges are irreplaceable"
Gauges are quite easily replaced by bullet graphs which are far more informative and useful, especially in the confined space of a KPI dashboard.
Gauges are just as much about fluff as 3D effects, and do as much of an injustice to the data.http://www.perceptualedge.com/articles/misc/Bullet_Graph_Design_Spec.pdf

Jorge I agree that angular charts are more important, I see very little value in radar charts, at least for the business world. Might be good for navigating in polar coordinates or for reindeer to find their various feeding grounds but not more important than 3D charts in these days of more fluff and not so much value.

I Disagree with Dick. In my case, angular gauges are much more important. 3D is cool, just that. In KPI dashboards, gauges are irreplaceables.

Torstein, I think you have been duped by someone who really wants to see the radar charts. Maybe there was a campaign by some reindeer up in Lapland to help them find their way to feeding grounds. 3D charts are much more important. Believe me.
-
Thanks Dick, we'll get there eventually. Right now we're focusing on radar charts and angular gauges, the most frequently requested features in this list.

Torstein, Once a month or more I am going to bother you about 3D Columns, Bars and Pies. You need to focus on this because your customers really want it. Thank you and have a great day! Please give us some progress repoirts.

I am embarking on a project that desperately requires presentation level graphics and need to decide soon which package to go with. Highcharts is streets ahead in most areas but the lack of 3D may well be a killer. I don't expect to release my package publicly for 9-12 months. so knowing it was on the roadmap for that timeframe at least would suffice.
Please consider this seriously. I'd much prefer to use Highcharts. -

Most important to me is 3d column and bar charts. After that would be 3d pie charts. Anything beyond that is gravy.

Seconding this thread.
The 3D feature is being more and more asked by my customers today, and i can't answer their needs with the styling proposed by Highcharts.Could you guys add in your priority list this 3D charts feature? I have 3 large projects starting at Q3 that'll need the 3D feature.
Thanks for the feedback on our request.

I saw this "Anonumous" but it is far away from the fusion chart version.

Number 2 on my list is 3D Charts it makes the presentation richer in many cases.

just curious why this isn't 'started', it has many more votes than other items

We will probably implement 3D at some time (that is true 3D, not just gradients), but first priority now is Highcharts 3.0 with the features listed on the roadmap.

the problem is that isn't what my clients consider to be 3d pie charts. This is: http://www.jpowered.com/graphs-and-charts/gallery/images/pie-chart-500x320.png
Basically flat sided and such. I know, personally, that this isn't the best way to go, but marketing individuals really love this style of pie chart.

"Heres how to use gradients to make the column chart look a bit like cylinders: http://jsfiddle.net/highcharts/2g78t/ . Also check out experimental radial gradients for pies: http://highcharts.uservoice.com/forums/55896-general/suggestions/888449-support-radial-gradients"
@Torstein Hønsi does this mean that you have not any plan for 3d charts?
I think fusionchart 3d charts is based upon highcharts, am I right? -

I have been following this conversation (for well over a year now).
And, while the business I work for has not yet implemented HighCharts (too far down the list), a "sticking point" would always be that there is no 3D (proper 3D and not just styling - e.g. bars and pies with depth to them, the ability to actually provide a "distorted" view to emphasise something regardless of how that distortion may be view by purists).
So, I still think (more than 12 months later) that a 3D add-on for HighCharts would be useful (even if there was a separate licence for it). However, I am not sure if the business I work for is likely to use HighCharts at this point in time - but for other reasons.
