have to have these (along with some 3D options for pie and some other chart types) if we want to replace our old charting engine with highcharts... and I'd REALLY like to do that! :)

Regardless of ones beliefs of whether a particular graph type is the best option possible, there will always be the situation when a board of directors/managers/client have made a decision that you as a developer/designer cannot influence. For these cases, if for no other reason, it would be very useful to have radar graphs available as they are a very popular graph type in many industries and will remain a "make or break" decision for many companies when finding a suitable graphing library.

I'm glad to see this is now planned but wondered if there was a time-scale for it's implementation?

Also benchmarking and scorecards works better with Radar graph then with columns...

I'd be careful with moving the opinion to the other side of the fence and making radar charts sound like they are for idiots. Certainly radar charts aren't always the best approach. But they can be a very good consolidated way to present multiple pieces of information in a confined space (typical with websites and dashboards) allowing for further drill-down. Radar charts make it very easy to see general trends and big picture overviews. Such as the Competitor Profile in the PDF link below. Maybe I am weird, but I think that radar chart shows how three companies operator on consistent tracks and the other two follow different tracks. I can assess all sorts of information about how each compares in a single glance and like minded strategies. The ones with highest satisfaction have the strongest profit with the least labor overhead even though they have the lowest revenue.

@Jimmy - exactly right. The thinking must be: "this is critical for giving the impression that my app looks cool", rather than "this is critical for helping people quickly and clearly comprehend the data".

It's surprising how many claim this is "critical". Radar plots are one of the worst ways to represent data. A simple 2-dimensional barchart is far more effective. I would greatly benefit from a spider chart being in the tool kit. It would be a welcome addition!
