Radar plot
A radar chart or spider chart allows plotting of multivariate data. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar_chart.
Completed as of Highcharts 2.3

I need to think of a use case for radar charts.

Also called a spider chart, a radar chart plots different variables on distinct axes at different angles in a 360 degree rotation. With this method, in theory, an unlimited number of axes could be included, and an unlimited number of variables simultaneously plotted. However, it’s recommended that you stick to using no more than 5 or 6 variables and distinct categories.

It would be really helpful if the polar chart could also include functionality to plot a wind rose (wind direction and intensity) see: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/17748-windrose and more specifically http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fx_files/17748/5/wind_rose.png as an example. Thanks in advance.

Hi Torstein-
Any idea why the charts no longer contain any data? Thanks!

This is awesome work!
I would like to be able to create a visualization similar to: www.torre.nl/bestcity
This was a submission to The Economist Best CIty Visualization Contest -
Still struggling a bit with the orientation of the X axis (the circumference), but here's something you can look at: http://jsfiddle.net/highcharts/2Y5yF/56/

Hello Torstein, is there any place where to look a sample with the polygon grid? Thanks! We couldn't wait for this feature, so thanks for starting developing it!

We are also interested in the polygon spider graphs. Our use case is similar to the one linked to by Alessandro, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/21/Spider_Chart.jpg, where the graph makes a complete loop for the polygon.
Awesome polar chart so far!

Thanks! We've implemented the polygon and circle style for grid lines. Perhaps we need to reconsider this option to be set at a higher level, as the position of intermediate points will change.

Hi Torstein and thanks for you reply! You're right, radar charts normally have a circular shape, but can also be displayed as a polygon (see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/21/Spider_Chart.jpg)
However, Dundas Polar Chart and Dundas Radar (or Spider) Chart (for example), are slightly different: you can see what I mean here: http://support2.dundas.com/OnlineDocumentation/winchart2005/PolarChart.html
and here:
http://support2.dundas.com/OnlineDocumentation/winchart2005/RadarChart.htmlI think would be nice to have an option to choose between the polygonal or circular shape.
Many thanks for your great work!!! -
Thanks Alessandro! What specifically do you mean by radar/spider that's different from a polar chart? From the Wikipedia article on radar charts it is said that radar charts, spider charts and polar charts are synonyms.

Thanks for this wonderful news: live example looks so great! Radar/spider chart would be also very much appreciated!

Thanks SL! Yes, it will support stacking.

Go Torstein and crew, go! This is looking great already. Will it also support series stacking when completed?

If you could support this chart type that would be great

It would also be essential for our Skillmatrix :) Really a must-have! ;)

Hi,
our company is a new user to Highcharts.
A Radar Chart / Polar Chart is an important feature for us.
Hope it will get implemented soon.
