To Set the opacity of Column Chart in the same way it is done for Area Chart.

You can do that by CSS: http://jsfiddle.net/highcharts/a85ZR/7/

can this be done without affecting the opacity of the symbol color in a legend?

@Andy Byrne
Sure, just set an individual rgba color for each series: http://jsfiddle.net/a85ZR/ -

Is there any way to set the opacity of an individual series? Use case I have is where I dynamically generate the different series for a chart. Some series are lines, some are columns. I'd like to be able to set the opacity of the column series but leave the line series as standard.

Thanks! Links are updated now.

Hi Torstein, the links you posted doesn't seem to render any chart for reference anymore. Is there any way this could be updated? I'm interested in trying to reduce the transparency for some specific series only as well. Appreciate your work btw :) !

You need to set an array of semi-transparent colors in the global colors array. See http://api.highcharts.com/highcharts#colors. Alternatively, loop over the existing colors and set the opacity: http://jsfiddle.net/highcharts/9a2JG/

Any way to get this to generate the color? The # of my series are dynamic, so I'd prefer for the chart to figure out what color to use for each series. (But I still need opacity, because I'm overlapping the columns)
