Implemented as of Highcharts 4.1 and Highstock 2.1. See http://api.highcharts.com/highcharts#xAxis.breaks and http://api.highcharts.com/highstock#xAxis.breaks

Scale Break would indeed position Hicharts JS very quickly over all other chart libraries.

Scale break would be the feature that would distinct Highcharts from the rest of the other frameworks.
There's now support for Logarithmic scales, but for illustrative and presentation purposes, "scale breaks" are a much more efficient solution.'@aion' s approach sounds good, and even more, this could be a "premium" feature, available only e.g. for a few chart types (mostly columns and bars).

Yes, this would be really useful to us. I'm sure it's a must have for many others.

Highcharts are great.
We are looking forward to change out charting library, Highcharts is our preferred choice.
But yes, scale break is a main feature for us, too.
We cannot switch until this feature is available. -

We evaluated Highcharts and it looks very promising, but the decision to buy Highcharts or not depends basically on this sole feature, as the management rejected much more mature chart libraries that were missing this feature too :(.

Totally agree. But not only for financial data - everywhere where more than 1 series with columns is displayed, this is just a must.I understand that it's not very easy to automatically find out the best breaks, but maybe there's simpler solution Highslide could adopt first:
- allow only one break (cut off) first.
- require a manual based condition/formula for breaking.I think this is even more important than new chart types that Highslide is working on right now: unless the actual one allow such basic features, many users won't be able switch to Highcharts from their actual libraries :(.
