I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Sort stacked columns by total

Then Pareto graphs would look great even as series are added and removed.

  3. Add option to set a minimum slice size in a pie chart

There is minPointLength for bar charts, but nothing for pie charts. When we have a pie chart in which the numbers differ greatly, the smaller sections are not visible.

  4. Post Charts to Facebook

It would be great to be able to post preview images of charts to Facebook, so that when a user shares a chart on Facebook, it shows an image instead of just a link.

  5. Progressive data rendering with zoom event

Large data sets may well include more data than can be presented, given the pixel size of the display. When a user zooms in on the data, more information would then be needed to display detail data.

A progressive mechanism would be useful to allow more detail to be requested and sent to the client via an ajax call, triggered from a zoom event. This progressive rendering might show a lag on zoom, but in some cases this lag would be preferred to a long delay for initial data display for very large data sets. It might also perform better…

  6. Support multiple legends

I have a chart where I mix and match different colors and stroke styles. It would be nice to have the possibility to have multiple legends, or at least the ability to create groups inside the legend, so I can better separate the meaning of the color from the meaning of the line style.

  9. Use requestAnimationFrame instead of setTimeout

All animations in Highcharts use setTimeout. A new feature, requestAnimationFrame (https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.mozRequestAnimationFrame) optimize all animations (CSS3, SVG, JS) to have a smooth rendering.

    More explanation : http://paulirish.com/2011/requestanimationframe-for-smart-animating/

  10. Theme Creator

A theme creator for different styles of the library would be nice.

  12. Add Custom Buttons

Include options to set up custom buttons with call-backs to perform certain functionality.

For example, I would love to be able to have a button next to the current print and export buttons that would be used for help/information about the chart.

  15. add support for subscripts and superscripts to the Renderer buildText function.

Currently, the buildText function doesn't render subscripts and superscripts in the SVG output, but subscripts and superscripts are supported in SVG 1.1 using the baseline-shift attribute on the tspan element. Please add support for parsing and tags and rendering them as appropriate tspan elements.

  16. Create some form of tree / node linking chart

Highcharts doesn't currently appear to have any tree / node linking chart types. A few examples would be:

    - Dendograms: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendrogram
    - Hierarchical clustering: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchical_clustering
    - Minimum Spanning Tree: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimum_spanning_tree

The above chart types vary in their purpose and how they are constructed. But this request is simply to have some form of tree / node linking chart capabilities in highcharts.

Once it becomes possible to chart a basic tree or hierarchy structure, it may be easier to extend functionality to create further chart types along the same thinking.

Plot.ly currently offers both dendrogram's and tree plots within their python…

  17. Option for fixed width (groupPadding) between columns

I have a column chart that can have a variable number of columns. I would like a slight gap between each column, but I'd like it to be consistent no matter how many columns there are or how wide they are. I've tried groupPadding and pointPadding, but if you use a static value the padding seems to vary depending on how wide the columns are. See this example:

    http://jsfiddle.net/JxCEh/

It would be nice to have a way to define a fixed padding in pixels or points that always stays the same.

  18. Crop / Flow Plot Band Titles

If you have a band title that exceeds the width of the band it currently overflows in unattractive ways. It would be nice if there were a few options for situations where the title exceeds the width of a plot band like:

    - Crop (with optional center, left, right, alignments)
    - Warp
    - Ellipses
    - Hide
    - Bleed into neighboring plot bands (the current behavior that may not ALWAYS be undesirable)

  19. HighStock support for several date format such as decimal year (UTC) or Julian date

It would be very convenient to pass several date formats to HighStock and use the scroll/zoom functionalities with those dates (without any transformation in UTC day-month-year-hour:min:sec).

For instance, astronomers use large time series but dates are usually formatted in "Julian Days", "Modified Julian Days" or Decimal Years (UTC) which are all double numbers. It would be nice to be able to see those values on the X-axis keeping the scroll/zoom functionalities.

UTC decimal years Ex : Date=[2012.345643, 2012.35432,2012.37234, etc...]
    or
    Julian dates Ex : [2456342.7345,2456342.7845,etc....]
    or
    modified Julian dates : Ex : [56342.2345,56342.2845,etc....]

  20. Shared horizontal crosshairs

When using a shared tooltip and horizontal crosshairs, the crosshair will only display on the first series drawn, if there is more than one. Even if the cursor starts out tracing along a different series, the crosshair is pinned to the first series drawn. Could this behaviour be modified so the crosshair is associated with the series the cursor is highlighting?
