  1. Provided a colored background for target values.
When we measure, ultimately we want to compare these measure to a target value. Target values should be a color option in the background (similar to the speedometer gauge). The number of colors up to 3 (R,Y,G) should be driven on the number of ranges for the target value. Thus 100 to 95 (Green), 94 to 75 (Yellow) and 75 and below (Red) give us 3 colors for the background. There needs to be an option to direct the value as ascending or descending (i.e. up is good (Revenue) or up is bad…

  2. Would like to see a Wind Direction Gauge (360) + N,E,S,W etc.
    Like on this image: http://postimage.org/image/vnpx7frbj/
I cannot reproduce this using a simple gauge using highcharts since the y axis labels do not align correctly.
Also with a simple gauge it is not possible to change the arrow, so one does not know if the the wind is coming towards the arrow or going away from it.

  3. When a gauge gets a value outside the Y-axis range, the needle keeps rotating. It then looks as if another value is indicated.
Example: the Y-axis is from -50 to 50. When an value of -75 is specified, the needles points to 48, which is invalid.
I cannot resolve this by modifying the "-75" value to "-50" because of the value label and tooltip, which must show the correct value of -75.

It would therefore be better for the needle not to move beyond the Y-axis scale. Or only a few degrees as an indication that the actual value is…

  5. Currently there is no way to have a scale where lower numbers have the largest bar (i.e. reversed/inverted bar widths.)

This is essential in situations where you are ranking a number of categories and 1 counts as the winner or first place.

  6. Now the axis object has something called categories, which will show for regular axis what are the intervals. For timelines though we set in the data using timestamps and you dont know exactly what timeline is generated. And if you zoom in then the timeline is actually changed ( you can control this a bit with the maxZoom variable).

Example. I insert as data 3 values in a timeline. We can get the min and max of the timeline, but not the step. And min and max are relative to the state of zoom, not absolute so if I want…

  8. Hello

Please consider the following enhancement. More often than not you need a consistent look for your whole page including charts. This includes common font family, font size, etc. For many reasons these style are usually defined in CSS, not in JavaScript. Highcharts styles are defined in JavaScript which creates a problem - you cannot create common set of styles for your page that includes charts.

An example of why this is needed is mobile and desktop version of the same page. We would use different CSS to make font bigger on mobile devices. Another example - print version of…

  9. Charts capture scrolling events on an iPhone or iPad, making scrolling the page by flicking on the chart area impossible. An option for changing this behavior would be desirable.

  10. When Scrollbar is enabled using Highstock. The Default position of scrollbar is to right. As in the fiddle
    http://jsfiddle.net/highcharts/fj6d2/
scrollbar position is right by default
When there is large data, we need scroll bar to be in left position.

  11. When clicking on a point it opens up an expanded window that displays more information about that point. similar to a drilldown but not a chart, more of a list.

  12. Highstock allows for multiple series but you can only work with one y-axis. When plotting 2 series with different y-values range, the single y-axis does not scale for both series. Having dual axis will allow a scale for each series.

  13. You added upColor along with regular color on Candlesticks - this is a great start. However, almost all Candlestick charts offer differing border colors as well, an upBorder and downBorder if you will. If you would add this so we could base it on a real stock chart's open, high, low and close this would be a TREMENDOUS improvement.

  14. To allow to set manually the chart compression.
Now, every point of chart represents an automatic time period (data grouping) managed internally in relation to zoom choice by range selector. Many financial chart library allow to choice the compression (data grouping) indipendently from range of time visualized.

At this moment, samples of crossfilter are using d3.js .

Dashboard functionality is supported by Highcharts. The concept is just to add one chart to each div in the layout you want for a dashboard. Actions on one chart are captured by event handlers, and used to update other charts.

  16. Right now Highcharts can run locally but the themes will not work if high charts.js is linked locally.

  17. Allow the user to easily switch between different scales for the axis, ie. change the yAxis from log to linear and it will replot.

  18. Can you implement redrawing only one bar in a bar chart when the value for that bar is changed?

I am trying to use a slider to change a value in a bar chart. However, when the value is changed, the whole chart gets redrawn, not only the part that changed. Here is what I am trying to replicate - http://www.budget.msu.edu/budget.swf. I know this is Flash so it might be too slow in JS, but I think it is worth the effort.

    Thank you.

  20. the functionality provided with this new type is very useful. The given example (Temperature-Range) is OK, but indicating the columns relative to a threshold (value minus threshold) might be another good application for this type.
